Satellite dishes are communication devices. I often use them as such a device in my artwork. I've used plastic "b"ottle caps to make an environmental statement regarding "b"ottle caps being disposed of in the oceans and waterways and being eaten by sea"b"irds. They also represent the colonization and disproportionate number of "B"lack American males, many of them only "b"oys, in the prison industrial complex, disappearing from families and society. There is an eerie correlation between disappearing "B"lacks and disappearing "b"ees. The disappearance of both affect their corresponding eco systems in a detrimental and nefarious way. The antique rusted lantern doesn't appear to be shedding light on these situations.
