A major cause of death to the indigenous people of these continents we call the "Americas" was disease. Diseases such as smallpox and measles were brought to these continents by Europeans. A major tactic of killing the indigenous people was by the distribution of blankets, by soldiers, which carried smallpox and measles. Europeans had been dealing with these diseases for centuries prior to bringing these diseases to these continents and weaponizing them. These diseases were foreign and unknown to the indigenous people of these continents.
