Homeless
Acrylic on Linen (24 x 30 x .5 inches)
(2007)
The homeless person wrapped in a blanket sitting on the sidewalk (lower left) is offered the warmth of the sun and the dark of night just like the man that has a home. One is not favored over the other. Metaphors abound. Is the man standing homeless or being smug and passing the homeless holding his hand in his pocket to hold on to his spare change? Is the sun a flower or is the flower a sun? Could this sun/flower (sunflower) represent rebirth?
